How do keywords, long descriptions, etc. affect your profile visibility?

The higher your profile completeness, the better Google can match the user’s search query with your location profile.

Having your name, address, and telephone number consistent in all of the directories that are connected helps you achieve a better ranking on Google Maps and Search. This means that your listings will be more visible to people who are looking for them. Having high profile completeness allows Google to better match people’s search queries with your locations.

Which information is important and where is it published?

The basic data (name, address, telephone number, website, email, category, opening hours, keywords, long description) and other data (attributes, panorama images, logo, photos, services, social media profiles) are also important.


Add up to 5 categories in your profile. The first category counts as the main category and is, therefore, the most important. Corresponding to the main category, associated attributes that you can select are displayed in the dropdown in Uberall. Examples for the main category and other categories:

You can add keywords to your location profiles as they are published in many directories. This will help customers learn about what your business offers. Additionally, listing the keywords on the directory page will improve your visibility.

Long Description

With a long description, you can tell your customers about your company and what you offer. This information is included in most directories, so it can help people find you. Use 750 characters or less for the long description, so that it also shows up on Google. If you have more than 750 characters, Google will show the short description (200 characters) and you will lose 550 valuable characters to use for your products/services. You can use a generic long description for all locations and individualize them using the placeholders *|name|*, *|zip|*, *|city|*. Please note that the number of characters behind the placeholder must be included to not exceed 750 (e.g. City = Southampton => 11 characters).

Short Description

If you have a long description for your location, Google will show the first 200 characters. It’s important to store a short, informative description to make sure people know what your location is about.


Attributes are important for getting your business found on Google. Attributes help people find your business when they are not looking for it by name, but by the products or services you offer. Attributes are linked to your main category in Uberall, and you can find all of the attributes that Google makes available for that category.

Social Media Profile Links

Social media links are displayed in many directories and thus increase your visibility and link building. The links are displayed in the directories for example AppleMaps, Bing etc.


You can add services to your location profiles to let your customers know about the products and services you offer. You can also increase your organic visibility by having your profile published on the directory pages. These directories include ABCLOCAL, Business Directory Germany, Bundestelefonbuch, Cylex, Dialo, FindeOffen, GoLocal, GoYellow, Guidelocal, Jelloo, Meinungsmeister, Yellbo Meinestadt. Your profile will be displayed on these directories as well as on Google (mobile) and Waze.
