What happens if someone else tries to open a new listing, claiming they are managing my business?

If someone else creates a business listing for your company, it will depend on the directory.

For example, if someone creates a duplicate business listing on Google, you can report it from your Google Business Profile account.

For other directories, if they allow us to remove duplicates, we will do so after continuously checking for duplicates. You can read more details about how we handle this here.

What is important to know is that we can’t stop people from creating duplicates of your listing. We can only find them afterwards. Some directories have a feature that blocks duplicate creation and displays a message saying that a listing for that location is already being created
