The employment of AI tools, such as Jasper and GPT3, to generate content has become extremely popular recently. The question is whether this trend represents the future of content creation or not. Additionally, concerns have been raised regarding the ethical implications of utilizing these tools and whether they may expose a website to potential penalties from Google’s algorithms.
While AI can be helpful in streamlining certain aspects of content creation, it shouldn’t be relied upon as the sole source of inspiration or creativity. By using it alongside creative literary devices, content research tools, and techniques, content creators can produce both efficient and impactful work, creating clarity, coherence, and emphasis in writing.
Think of AI as a paintbrush in an artist’s studio. It can be used to create beautiful strokes and patterns on a canvas, but it’s not the only tool at an artist’s disposal. Similarly, while AI can assist with tasks like keyword research or generating headlines, it’s up to the content creator to add their own creative flair and personal touch to make the final product stand out.
AI Content and Google Penalties
There’s a lot of talk online about whether or not Google will penalize your website if it is found to have AI-generated content. There are even tools being released constantly that tell you if the content you wrote was potentially generated with AI.
So, what’s really going on here? Is it safe to use AI? In short, yes. Absolutely.
According to Google, if it’s high-quality content – they don’t care how it was generated.
That being said, in my opinion, it’s likely that Google will eventually treat basic AI-generated content that is not optimized for the user or creative in a manner akin to how it handles plagiarism or duplicate content.
While such content will be permitted, it will be regarded as being of a lower caliber than an original piece with comparable SEO factors. And that is why I believe it is important to know how to use commands creatively to ensure your content delivers the end user a great experience. So, let’s dive in.
Content Creation Commands & Strategies for AI Tools
Now that it’s clear that you’re good to go in creating content with AI tools, get ready to rock your audience’s world with some awesome tips, tricks, and commands that I use to create killer content.
Step 1: Create Blog Post Titles With AI
Before planning what I’m going to write about, here’s the command I use to generate a content strategy, beginning with :
“Generate ten engaging blog post titles about (topic). Use numbers, and sound clickbaity.”
Sure, people don’t like to hear the term “clickbaity,” but based on my experience, using that term gets the AI engine to utilize words that have been proven to get more clicks (also known as power words). We’re looking for results here, and step one is to have a title that people will click on.
Here’s an example I used with Jasper’s Chat feature:
Step 2: Ask AI to create a blog post outline based on the title you choose
Once you’ve selected a title for a blog post, ask the AI tool to create a blog post outline with a command such as; “Create a blog post outline for this title: X”.
From there, you’ll have an entire blog post outline to build your content off of. And here is where the real fun begins.
Step 3: Master Your AI Commands
The big issue many people have with AI-generated content is that so many tools can detect if AI writes the content because it typically means that the content lacks creativity.
It’s time to learn how to use AI to spice your life up. Below is a list of commands I use that add depth and complexity to any piece of writing, creating different interpretations and allowing for a deeper exploration of themes and ideas.
I’m going to use “X” in place of the following list of rhetorical literary devices. Basically, all you have to do is select one of the rhetorical devices and plug it into X under one of the following three command options, then watch the magic happen.
Option 1: Use X to (describe/explain) topic
Option 2: (Here is where I’ll take a paragraph either I’ve written or that AI has written and make it better) Rephrase the following paragraph, using X: (insert paragraph here)
Option 3: Expand upon (topic/idea) using X
Literary devices to use in-place of X:
- Allusion
- Analogy
- Assonance
- Associative cascades
- Consonance
- EAT (Expertise, Experience, Authority, Trust) note: pick one of these at a time.
- Enumeration (of a statement or concept)
- Hypophora and open loops
- Layered devices
- Metaphors
- Micro-pattern-interrupts
- Perplexity and bustiness
- Parallelism (and strict parallelism)
- Percussive rhythms
- Persuasion
- Philosophical approach
- Self-driven rhetorical narratives
- Sense of gratitude (or any other emotional feeling)
- Symbolism
- Symmetry, fluency, and flow
- Systematically and objectively
- Verb-saturated language
So there you go – 22 awesome literary devices to use to empower your content using AI tools. The better you can master these, expand upon them, and get creative with them, the faster you’re going to be at creating great content that delivers users what they want, which will also help with organic search rankings. Now that’s what I call a win-win.
